ROIMATA SINCLAIR CONTEMPORARY MAORI ART

All the Latest

Roimata Sinclair Contemporary Maori Art serves as a vessel to project and share my current works and research toward my final exhibition in November 2017 as a third year Bachelors of Maori Visual Arts student at Toihoukura - School of Contemporary Maori Visual Arts.

TAIAO EXHIBITION RESEARCH

UPCOMING 3RD YEAR EXHIBITION (NOVEMBER 23RD  2017)

The goal is to create paintings and greenstone artworks that highlight the state of our waterways and environment in NZ from an indigenous perspective. The aim is to establish discussions on sustainability.

EXHIBITION PROPOSAL RESEARCH

THE POSTS BELOW ARE A COLLECTION OF RESOURCES, PROCESSES AND EXPERIENCES THAT WILL CREATE THE THEORY BEHIND MY ARTWORKS

There will be a focus on several  areas that contribute to the provenance of the artworks such as:

  • CONNECTION: why pounamu (greenstone) is an important medium to me

  • WAIORA/WATER: collating information on the disappointing state of our national waterways

  • PAINTING PROCESSES: explanations of works

  • POUNAMU PROCESSES: Explanations of how to work stone and explorations/experiments using the medium
