EXHIBITION PROPOSAL

EXHIBITION 'TAIAO', TO BE HELD AT THE MAIA GALLERY, GISBORNE ON THE 23RD NOVEMBER 2017

The aim of this collection is to highlight the current state of our waterways here in New Zealand from an indigenous perspective and hopefully establish discussions on both sustainability and sustainable art. To do this I will effectively and efficiently reuse stone that is deemed 'uncarveable' or unuseable by greenstone carvers to create 5 3-dimensional mixed media artworks. The stone pieces will incorporate paint and stone engraving.

In terms of display space, the collection would look best on 2m x 2m of white wall space to hang 3 works, accompanied by 2 white plinths to place one piece on each that are interesting to be viewed from all perspectives .

It is the much esteemed Maia Gallery that is changing the perception of Maori artistry, and this collection of works and myself would be honored to exhibit here.
